1. Golden Rule
Gospel:
“Do to others what you would have them do to you.” (Matthew 7:12)
Talmud:
“What is hateful to you, do not do to your fellow. This is the whole Torah; the rest is commentary.” (Talmud Bavli, Shabbat 31a – Rabbi Hillel)
Parallel: Rabbi Hillel’s teaching predates the Gospels and emphasizes an ethic of reciprocity nearly identical to Rabbi Yeshua’s.
—
2. Love of God and Neighbor as Central Commandments
Gospel:

—
4. Sabbath for Humanity

“And this is what Rabbi Elazar said: What is the meaning of that which is written: “For who plunders the day of small things” (Zechariah 4:10)? What caused the table, i.e., the reward, of the righteous to be plundered, meaning wasted, in the future? It was the small-mindedness they possessed. And what is this small-mindedness? That they did not believe in the Holy One, Blessed be He, with a complete faith…” (Talmud Bavli, Sotah 48b)

“Rabbi Yosei, son of Rabbi Yehuda, says: What is the meaning when the verse states: “A just ephah, and a just hin, shall you have” (Leviticus 19:36)? But wasn’t a hin included in an ephah? Why is it necessary to state both? Rather, this is an allusion that serves to say to you that your yes [hen] should be just, and your no should be just.” (Talmud Bavli, Bava Metzia 49a)
Parallel: Integrity of speech is the mark of a righteous person.
—
